Paddy announces sports betting and Zynga presents poker and casino apps
Online gambling is constantly growing and as more people join the trend, the operators look for new ways to offer the product. Social networks can provide the ideal markets for online gambling since they are frequented by young users that spend quite a bit of time on their computers, so a bit of gaming could fit right in. However the biggest social network in the world, Facebook, has been a bit reluctant to offer real money gambling to its users but it would seem that gamblers will soon get exactly what they wanted from two large operators.
Paddy Power will launch sports betting on Facebook
Paddy Power is one of the largest bookmakers in the world and it has recently made quite the name for itself by taking on unconventional marketing strategies. With the idea that there is no bad publicity, Paddy Power has had significant success in recent years and its most recent decision to venture into social gambling is far from a publicity stunt. In fact, it is one of the best ideas the company had recently.
The Irish bookmaker made the announcement that it is looking to offer sports betting options for real money on the popular social network. This means that players should get their basketball over under bets ready since they will soon be able to place them directly from Facebook.
Currently, the betting platform is in the beta stage, so there is still some time still needed until all the testing and development is done. Users will be given access to the beta version in a few weeks and this will mark the start of Paddy Power on Facebook.
As expected, the anticipated app will also focus on the social element and users will be able to show what bets they placed and also engage their friends to join in on the activity. There will a wide range of sporting events covered through Facebook and gambling will only be available for those that passed the strict age verification checks. Head on over to Betting Basketball to learn all about the different betting types and read the latest news in sports to be ready once the app become available.
Paddy Power is no stranger to Facebook since the official page has about 1 million Likes and the company is constantly monitoring the social media buzz to see how many people are talking about it, especially when it pulls off some of the above mentioned “unique” marketing campaigns.

Zynga presents online poker and casino apps for Facebook
On Wednesday, July 10, Zynga unveiled their latest creations at a gaming summit taking place in Barcelona, Spain. These are online poker and online casino apps that will be made available for real money through Facebook in the near future, at least in the United Kingdom.
The apps are called ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino and are results of the partnership Zynga has with bwin.Party. The social component will play a big role in the game but there will be big differences between the social gaming apps that Zynga already has on Facebook. To better make the distinction to real money, Zynga presented these new apps that will most likely go online by the end of the month.
Players that are already enjoying poker on Zynga’s gambling site in the United Kingdom will be able to easily transfer funds to and from the Facebook app. Versions for mobile devices are also available and the UK is considered to be just the starting point for the large social gaming developer. It is expected that Zynga will offer real money options to players from the United States at some point but it is hard to predict when this will happen.
